Kokkola, Kannus and Kaustinen visited Terrafame during their field trip

The municipal boards and administrative personnel from Kokkola, Kannus and Kaustinen visited Terrafame during their field trip to Kainuu. The guests were told about recent developments at Terrafame, the popularisation of electric cars and the possibilities for improving logistics routes. The visit included a tour of the mine and plant areas.

In addition to Terrafame, the guests met with representatives from the municipality of Sotkamo and the Kainuu Regional Council in order to discuss the effects of mining on the operation and finances of a municipality and the everyday life of the residents. The visit was also motivated by Keliber planning to start mining operations in the Central Ostrobothnia region.
